Job summary

A hands-on Database Administrator role focusing on MSSQL and MongoDB in a production environment supporting 24/7 operations. You will ensure high availability, performance tuning, and disaster recovery readiness, while managing Always On and replica sets and conducting regular health checks.

The role requires 5-8+ years of DBA experience, strong incident response skills, and the ability to work in a security-conscious government-context environment.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of DBA experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, HA, performance tuning) and MongoDB (Replica Sets, Backup/Restore).
• Experience supporting 24/7 mission-critical systems and Severity 1 incidents.
• Experience supporting application deployment (data patching, data seeding, etc.).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Calm and decisive during major incidents; strong communication during incident bridge calls.
• Eligible for Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 support for MSSQL and MongoDB in Production and DR environments; participate in standby/on-call roster for critical incidents
• Troubleshoot and resolve database outages, Always On failover issues, blocking/deadlocks, performance bottlenecks, and storage/IOPS constraints
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
• Manage MSSQL Always On Availability Groups; monitor replication/failover health; perform patching and cumulative updates; maintain backup/restore strategy; conduct DR drills; optimize indexing and execution plans
• Manage MongoDB Replica Sets and automatic failover; monitor memory, disk, and index performance; manage backup/restore and recovery validation; maintain cluster health and sharding
• Conduct proactive health checks, analyze query execution plans and slow queries, perform tuning and optimization, and forecast capacity growth
• Review database scripts prior to production deployment; support data migration and release windows; validate stability post-deployment; ensure rollback/recovery procedures are in place
• Implement database security hardening, manage role-based access control and auditing/logging, support vulnerability assessment remediation, and ensure compliance with government security policies

This role focusesprimarily on Production (Day 2) stability, high availability, incidentresponse, performance tuning, and disaster recovery readiness for Microsoft SQLServer and MongoDB platforms supporting 24/7 operations.

• Calm and decisive during major incidents; strongcommunication skills during incident bridge calls; comfortable working inaudit-heavy, compliance-driven environments
• Must be eligible for Government security clearance
