Job summary

Morgan McKinley is partnering with a leading public sector organisation to hire for the role of Data Operations Specialist for their Dublin office. This is a 12-month contract.

You will lead the processing and validation of data input into the new central system, owning data migration from multiple sources into a single consolidated data set used for the AVL system. The role requires 2–3 years’ data management experience with SQL databases and MongoDB, and strong stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Minimum NFQ Level 7 qualification in computing, engineering, IT or related data discipline.
• 2–3 years’ data management experience with SQL databases and/or MongoDB.
• Ability to prioritise work to meet data supply life cycle targets with attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead processing and validation of data input into the organisation's systems to ensure required service, accuracy and availability.
• Assist triage, investigation and resolution of issues with supported systems.
• Support SDLC, testing and QA activities including test strategies, plans, cases and test management tools.
• Process 'emergency' data supply changes arising from unforeseen circumstances.
• Assist, from time to time, in testing and validation of enhancements and new features.
• Document and maintain processes and procedures for the operations team with regard to interfaces with wider business processes (daily tasks, release management, incident and problem management, service continuity, security).
• Work with Contracts and Customer Experience teams to continually improve processes, system performance and customer experience.

About the Role

You will lead the processing and validation of data input into the new central system. You will have overall responsibility for the identification, planning, and migration of data from multiple sources, into a single consolidated data set, which will be used for the AVL system.

Responsibilities

• Leading the processing and validation of data input into the organisation's various systems to ensure it provides the required level of service, accuracy and availability.
• Assisting in the triage, investigation and resolution of issues and problems with supported systems.
• Support Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and testing and QA activities, including; Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases/Suites and Test Case Management Tools.
• Processing 'emergency' data supply changes resulting from unforeseen circumstances.
• Assisting, from time to time, in testing and validation of enhancements and new features.
• To document and maintain processes and procedures as applicable to the operations team, with full regard to how these interface with the wider business processes. This will include, but not be limited to: daily service tasks, configuration and release management, incident and problem management, service level continuity management, infrastructure and security management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Working with the Contracts and Customer Experience teams to continually improve processes, system performance, and the customer experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Hold a minimum of an NFQ degree level 7 qualification in computing, engineering, information technology, or, a relevant technical discipline to data analysis, preferably data science or equivalent.
• Have a minimum of 2-3 years’ recent experience working in a data management capacity including working with SQL databases. and/OR MongoDB
• Be effective at prioritising work to ensure target dates (data supply life cycle) are achieved using the provided systems and tools with an eye for detail and accuracy.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills in order to influence non-direct reports, managers and stakeholders in matters that can enhance service quality.

Preferred Skills

• Have knowledge of commonly used public transport data specifications including NeTEx, GTFS, VDV, SIRI, and NaPTAN.
• Have previous experience working with GIS or spatial data.
• Have an understanding of and exposure to Lean Six Sigma and/or ITIL.
• Possess data management skills, understanding of data management principles and best practices.
• Have an understanding of the underlying principals related to public transport real-time systems.
• Have experience of defining and understanding business requirements.
