Job summary

MCS Group is seeking a Data Engineer for a 4-month day-rate contract in Dublin City Centre, with an expectation of 2 days onsite per week. The role focuses on building and maintaining reliable data pipelines to support analytics, reporting, and business decisions.

You will collaborate with senior engineers, architects and analysts on a modern cloud data platform, primarily using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Delta Lake, plus Python and SQL for ETL/ELT work.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years' hands-on experience in data engineering or ETL/ELT.
• Strong SQL and Python skills.
• Experience building and supporting production data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud data services, ideally Azure.
• Familiarity with Git and team development workflows.
• Understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling.
• Experience with PySpark, Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory or Power BI is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Build ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL and cloud tooling.
• Integrate data from databases, REST APIs and files.
• Develop workloads using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and Delta Lake.
• Implement data validation, logging and error handling.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and improve data quality.
• Support testing, deployment and technical documentation.
