Job summary

MCS Group is seeking a Senior Data & Platform Engineer (AWS) for a day-rate contract starting immediately in Ireland. You will own backend services, data pipelines and AWS deployments, building reliable systems that integrate external data sources.

You will improve asynchronous processing, manage migrations, and operate automated release pipelines with monitoring and observability. Candidates bring strong Python backend experience and hands-on AWS (Lambda, ECS/Fargate, S3, RDS), SQL, data

Qualifications

• Strong production backend engineering experience.
• Experience with Python and AWS services.
• Data ingestion, queue-based systems and data quality.
• Strong SQL/relational DB experience (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, logging, metrics and alerts.
• Independent verification of outputs and autonomous work style.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services and reliable pipelines that integrate external data sources.
• Improve asynchronous processing, handle duplicates, retries and recovery.
• Deploy and operate applications on AWS with monitoring and automated releases.
• Manage database changes and system migrations with controlled cutovers.
• Take ownership from investigation through production handover.
