K2 STRATEGIC in Ireland is seeking a proactive data center maintenance engineer to perform preventative, corrective, and emergency mechanical and electrical work to maintain 100% uptime.

You will work in shifts, plan and execute planned and reactive work orders, supervise contractors, and ensure safety procedures are followed. Experience with BMS/EPMS, UPS, generators, and cooling systems is desirable; a safety-first mindset is essential.

Qualifications

  • Qualification or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Facilities, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in data centres, facilities management, or critical environments.
  • Familiarity with BMS, EPMS, UPS, generators, or cooling infrastructure.
  • Understanding of health and safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair critical equipment to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Plan and complete planned & reactive work orders to meet due dates.
  • Assist in project changes, supervision and handover within the facility.
  • Develop site procedures for maintenance and operation of critical equipment.
  • Escort and supervise third-party engineers and vendors.
  • Monitor alarms in FOC/BMS/EPMS and respond to abnormal conditions.

Job description

This is a shift work position, the purpose for this role is to perform preventative, corrective, and emergency mechanical and electrical maintenance work on the Data Center critical equipment while maintaining 100% uptime. The role requires a proactive, safety-conscious individual with strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and the ability to operate effectively within a shift-based environment.

Tasks And Responsibilities
  • While acting as DCS you are responsible for ensuring the successful operation, maintenance and repair of all critical equipment systems while maintaining 100% uptime on site.
  • Plan completion of planned & reactive work orders, assigned to you, to achieve and maintain 100% compliance every month i.e. all work orders completed on or before due date.
  • Assist in the planning, supervision and handover of any project related changes or improvements within the facility. Ensure that the Facilities Operations Centre (FOC), FOC Library, Stores & Workshop are clean and tidy at all times. Carry out routine housekeeping check of your area and follow a clean as you go approach to your work.
  • Work closely with management and the wider operational team on the review of equipment failures and preparation of detailed root cause analysis and action plan reports.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) and Risk Assessments during all activities.
  • Provide input into and develop site specific procedures associated with Maintenance and operation of critical equipment: SOP’s, EOP’s, Drills etc.
  • Assist in technical issues, project management, vendor management and technical reporting on all critical equipment and computerised systems.
  • Escort and supervise/monitor work of third-party engineers and sub-contractors to ensure their compliance with the site standards when performing maintenance or relevant activities.
  • Operate equipment, monitor and respond to alarms and abnormal conditions in the FOC as required. Ensure that EPMS, BMS, and Fire System alarms are responded to with the highest priority by monitoring for alarms, and abnormal conditions through the Facilities Operations Centre (FOC), EPMS, BMS, and Fire Systems.

  • Work shifts longer than eight hours in duration.
  • You must be flexible in your working patterns to support requirements dictated by the rhythm of the business & operational demands.
  • Good working ability on Microsoft Office Products, in particular Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualification or certification in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Facilities, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Previous experience in a data centre, facilities management, industrial, or critical environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with BMS, EPMS, UPS systems, generators, or cooling infrastructure.
  • Understanding of health & safety procedures and permit-to-work systems.
  • Experience working with contractors and service vendors is beneficial.
