Job summary

Centrica Business Solutions in Ireland is seeking a Shift Operations Electrical AP to monitor and maintain critical data centre power assets. You will manage events, coordinate with shift teams, and ensure safe, compliant operations following SSOW and permit procedures.

The role requires strong IT literacy, documentation skills, and hands-on LV electrical switching with a focus on uptime and safety. You will work closely with stakeholders and contribute to accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in mission-critical and/or power-generation environments.
• Good IT literacy and ability to write and develop documents, SOPs/EOPs.
• Familiarity with CMMS (Maintenance Management Systems).
• Familiarity with UPS and battery systems.
• Experience carrying out electrical switching activities and testing (LV).

Responsibilities

• Monitor customer assets to maximise efficiency in line with contractual terms.
• Manage and prioritise incoming event notifications to comply with contractual obligations.
• Provide professional, concise communications to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of tasks in the monitoring tool and asset management system.
• Ensure thorough handovers between shift teams to maintain safe operations.
• Conduct daily site inspections of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
• Ensure the site’s environmental conditions support a safe work environment.
• React to Building Management System alarms and carry out emergency actions as procedures.
• Issue permits and oversee third-party vendors in line with policies and regulations.
• Produce reports detailing asset availability and performance patterns.
• Adhere to company policies and code of ethics.
• Support the maintenance team during maintenance activities.

We have a key opportunity in Data Centre Operations to provide best‑in‑class operation and maintenance for customer critical power generation sites. The role focuses on system monitoring, implementation of procedures and SSOW, equipment checks and system maintenance and repairs for client equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring customer assets to maximise efficiency in line with contractual terms.
• Managing and prioritising incoming event notifications to comply with relevant contractual obligations.
• Providing professional, concise communications to a variety of internal and external customers and stakeholders.
• Maintaining accurate records of all tasks undertaken on the monitoring tool and asset management system.
• Ensuring a comprehensive and thorough handover between shift teams to maintain continuity of safe operations and knowledge of work activities.
• Working efficiently in an SLA‑driven team environment and conducting daily site inspections of mechanical and electrical engineering systems and technical equipment.
• Ensuring the site’s environmental conditions provide a safe work environment.
• Reacting to Building Management System alarms and completing emergency actions as set out in the agreed procedures.
• Issuing permits and overseeing third‑party vendors, ensuring compliance with company‑developed processes, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Producing reports detailing asset availability and performance patterns.
• Adhering to all applicable company policies, procedures and business ethics codes.
• Providing support to the maintenance team during maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a mission‑critical and/or power‑generation environment.
• Good IT literacy and the ability to write and develop documents, SOPs/EOPs.
• Good understanding of CMMS (Maintenance Management Systems) – desirable but not essential.
• Familiarity with UPS and battery systems.
• Experience carrying out electrical switching activities and testing (LV).
• Good understanding of LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) practices, hazardous energy and permit systems.
• NFQ L6 (Tradesperson) or equivalent in an electrical discipline, or other technical fields will be considered.
• Engineering degree desirable but not essential.
