Jobbeschreibung

Brightwater is working exclusively with a large, established financial services and insurance organisation that is building a Cyber Security team in Dublin. Protecting millions of people and their most important assets is central to the organisation's mission, with cyber security playing a vital role. The new team will operate a 24/7 Cyber Threat Operations Centre, defending the organisation's customers, employees, operations and critical assets against evolving cyber threats.

About this Position

As a Cyber Threat Hunter, you'll proactively identify and investigate threats that may not be detected through conventional security monitoring. Using threat intelligence, behavioural analysis and investigative techniques, you'll search for evidence of malicious activity, emerging attack patterns and weaknesses in existing security controls.

This is a technical, investigative role at the intersection of threat intelligence, security operations and detection. You'll collaborate with Incident Response, Detection Engineering, Threat Intelligence and other security teams, translating investigative findings into practical improvements that strengthen threat visibility and the organisation's defensive capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively conduct threat hunts across enterprise systems, networks, endpoints, identities and security environments.
  • Develop and test hunting hypotheses informed by threat intelligence, adversary behaviours, attack techniques and emerging threats.
  • Investigate suspicious or anomalous activity that may not have triggered conventional security alerts.
  • Analyse information from multiple sources to identify patterns, indicators and behaviours associated with malicious activity.
  • Identify previously undetected threats, attacker techniques and weaknesses in existing security controls.
  • Translate hunting findings into actionable recommendations and support improvements to threat detection capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Incident Response and Threat Intelligence teams to investigate emerging threats and strengthen operational readiness.
  • Identify gaps in security logging, visibility and monitoring, recommending improvements where appropriate.
    • Document hunting methodologies, investigative findings and recommended actions, contributing to repeatable processes and playbooks.
    • Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to colleagues, helping strengthen the wider security operations capability.
    Candidate Profile:
    • Ideally, a relevant qualification and at least five years' experience in cyber security, information security, security operations, threat hunting, incident response, detection engineering or a closely related discipline.
    • Demonstrable hands‑on experience conducting threat hunts, developing hypotheses and investigating activity across multiple sources of security information.
    • Strong understanding of attacker behaviours, tactics, techniques and common attack methods.
    • Advanced analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to distinguish genuine threats from legitimate or unusual activity.
    • Strong understanding of networking, operating systems, identity and authentication, endpoint security and common attack techniques.
    • Experience using threat intelligence to inform investigations, threat hunts or detection activities.
    • Ability to query and analyse large datasets using appropriate query, search or scripting languages.
    • Experience investigating activity across Windows and/or Linux environments and cloud platforms.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
    • Experience collaborating with Incident Response, Detection Engineering, Threat Intelligence or Security Engineering teams.
    • Relevant cyber security, information security or threat‑hunting certifications are advantageous.
    Tools and Environment

You’ll work in a modern security environment with access to a range of security, endpoint, network, identity, cloud and threat‑intelligence information. You’ll use these resources to investigate suspicious activity, identify potential threats and support improvements to security monitoring and controls.

The role requires a methodical investigative approach, the ability to correlate information from multiple sources and a strong commitment to confidentiality and the responsible handling of sensitive security information.

    Remuneration Package

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a proactive and technically challenging role focused on proactive threat detection and investigation.

    What’s on Offer?
    • The opportunity to join a growing cyber security team within an established financial services and insurance organisation.
    • Strong salary and benefits depending on experience
    • The opportunity to work closely with experienced security professionals across threat intelligence, incident response and detection.
    • A supportive and excellent company culture.
    • Excellent career and growth prospects.
