Job summary

Responsibilities

• Preparing and submitting import and export customs declarations.
• Completing customs documentation accurately and within required deadlines.
• Ensuring shipments comply with current customs procedures and regulations.
• Classifying goods using the correct commodity codes.
• Checking commercial invoices, packing lists and transport documentation.
• Liaising with customers, customs authorities, hauliers and internal departments.
• Resolving customs queries and documentation issues.
• Monitoring customs clearance progress and providing regular updates.
• Maintaining accurate records for compliance and audit purposes.
• Advising customers on customs requirements where necessary.
• Supporting road, air and ocean freight shipments with customs clearance.
• Ensuring duties, taxes and relevant charges are calculated correctly.
• Keeping up to date with changes to customs legislation and procedures.
• Supporting the wider operations team when required.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Customs Clerk, Customs Agent or Customs Clearance Operator
• Experience completing import and export customs declarations
• Good knowledge of Irish and EU customs procedures
• Experience with customs systems and freight forwarding software
• Knowledge of commodity codes, duties and taxes
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to manage multiple declarations and deadlines
• Confidence dealing with customers, customs authorities and transport partners
• Strong problem-solving skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
