Job summary

Bon Secours Hospital Limerick is hiring a CSSD Operative to join the sterile services team. The role handles cleaning, disinfection, packing and autoclaving of instruments, working within a multidisciplinary hospital environment to ensure high-quality patient care.

The successful candidate will have a Leaving Certificate (or equivalent), with QQI/FETAC Level 5 in Health Service Skills desirable, and proven CSSD or decontamination experience.

Job Title and Contract

CSSD Operative

Full-time (39 hours per week) | Permanent

The Purpose of This Role

To assist in the production of sterilised medical devices within the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning, disinfection, packing and autoclaving of instruments using mechanical and manual methods thus ensuring that a high-quality service is maintained. He/she will work closely with other members of the CSSD, Theatre, Endoscopy staff to offer a high standard of service in a clean and friendly environment to members of the public, staff and patients being treated at Bon Secours Hospital. The role is anchored in our guiding principles which promote and preserve the Bon Secours Mission, Vision and Values.

Candidate Criteria

• Qualifications: Hold a Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• A QQI/FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Service Skills or Healthcare Support is desirable.
• Experience: Proven experience in Decontamination or Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD). (Desirable)
• Proficient in the use of information technology and relevant systems. (Essential)
• Strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. (Essential)
• Excellent organisational and time management skills. (Essential)
• Committed to following all health and safety protocols in line with hospital policies. (Essential)
• Knowledge and experience of working in an accredited Private Hospital or similar healthcare role. (Desirable)

• Annual Salary: €40,710 - €47,588 per annum.
• Annual Leave Entitlement: 23 Days.
• Probationary Period: The appointee shall hold office for a probationary period of six months.
• Hours: 39 hours per week.
