Qualifications

• Proficiency in structural analysis and design, and familiarity with building codes and industry standards.

Role Description:

Play a key role delivering tech sector mega-projects.

The successful candidate will support all aspects civil, structural, and architectural design of the Client project. Reporting to the DCE Program Director, the CSA Engineer - Subject Matter Expert (SME) will drive reviews, coordinate and provide key technical input during site due diligence, detailed design and/or construction administration phases of the data centre project.

This position will collaborate and manage internal and external resources for the design review, coordination ensuring compliant delivery of discipline-specific systems aligning with Client and site-specific requirements. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME), the candidate provides key input to the Client, organisations and stakeholders and is responsible for leading and/or contributing to workgroups with representatives from AE firms, other disciplines and other key stakeholders within the Client. This position requires a detailed understanding of datacentre CSA design, controls and operational experience.

The role of a CSA Engineer SME is pivotal in ensuring that the civil, structural, and architectural elements of data centres are not only robust and compliant but also optimised for efficiency, safety, and scalability within the unique context of data centre operations

Role Accountabilities:

The following responsibilities reflect the specialised expertise and leadership expected of a CSA Engineer SME within the data center environment. Specific duties may vary based on the organisation’s needs and the scale of datacenter projects.

The SME will be responsible for

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Providing expert guidance on the design, construction, and maintenance of civil, structural, and architectural elements within data center facilities.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the civil, structural, and architectural components align with the overall technical and operational requirements of the data center.
• Overseeing the development of construction documents, including structural drawings, specifications, and architectural plans, with a focus on data centre-specific considerations such as floor loading, seismic design, and equipment layout.
• Conducting assessments and feasibility studies for new data center projects, as well as providing expertise in the evaluation and retrofitting of existing infrastructure.
• Developing and maintaining design standards and best practices for civil, structural, and architectural aspects of data center facilities, considering factors such as resilience, energy efficiency, and future expansion.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards in all civil, structural, and architectural aspects of data center projects.
• Staying updated on emerging technologies, materials, and construction methodologies relevant to data center engineering, and integrating sustainable design principles into the development and operation of data center facilities.
• Working to continually improve services and drive innovation

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, architectural engineering or related engineering field.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership
• 5-10+ years of progressive experience in civil, structural, or architectural engineering, with a focus on complex projects or infrastructure such as data centers, high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, or other large-scale structures.
• Expertise in structural analysis and design, proficiency in relevant software tools (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, ETABS, SAP2000), and a strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards
• Technical understanding of mission critical environments.
• A team player able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering team designing the Client Datacenters globally and possesses the skills to work in a fast-paced multi project environment.
• Familiarity with specialized aspects of civil, structural, and architectural engineering relevant to data center facilities, such as floor loading requirements, seismic design considerations, and building systems integration.
• Ability to advise a team of engineers in advanced engineering and operational processes and procedures as they relate to large data centre environments.
