Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in mission‑critical facility projects, with strong data centre focus.
  • Proven track record in managing complex design projects from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design packages and manage design and construction contracts.
  • Lead design oversight for domestic and international projects and perform constructability reviews.
  • Support contract negotiations with the client’s legal counsel and manage design amendments.
  • QA/QC monitoring and ensuring compliance with client design standards.

Scope of Work

As a Design Project Manager reporting to the Senior Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing all aspects of the design process for Data Centre projects. Acting as the client’s agent, you will collaborate with stakeholders, design consultants, construction management firms, and contractors to ensure that project objectives are met. This role encompasses design oversight, contract management, and quality assurance while maintaining alignment with the client’s vision and standards.

Specific Job Task

– The Datacentre Design Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and providing critical technical guidance throughout various phases of data centre projects. This role involves collaboration with both internal and external teams, leading specialized workgroups, and making essential design decisions to ensure project success

Project Coordination & Management
  • Act as the client’s authorized representative, managing design and construction contracts.
  • Collaborate with stakeholder groups, design consultants, and contractors to align project goals.
  • Coordinate design packages, ensuring consistency between the client and third-party contractors.
Design Oversight
  • Manage design efforts for domestic and international projects.
  • Track and resolve escalated design issues.
  • Lead value engineering and constructability reviews of project documents.
Contract Administration
  • Support contract negotiations in collaboration with the client’s legal counsel.
  • Develop and execute design contracts and amendments.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of essential project deliverables, including:
  • Design trackers (review checklists, decision trackers, comment logs).
  • Regular reports (monthly design reports, constructability reviews, value engineering reports).
  • Ensure updates to site change control logs, risk logs, and as-built design models.
Quality Assurance
  • Monitor QA/QC processes and report gaps to the client.
  • Ensure compliance with client design standards and expectations.
  • Coordinate cost estimates for scope gaps and changes.
  • Manage invoice processing, tracking, and reporting.
  • Negotiate and resolve outstanding change orders or disputes.
Stakeholder Coordination
  • Support program travel for team meetings and general management.
  • Schedule and manage third-party contractors and consultants engaged by the client.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in mission‑critical facility projects, with a strong focus on data centres.
  • Proven track record of managing complex design projects from concept to completion.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, electrical infrastructure, and cooling solutions for data centres.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP) or similar.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and energy efficiency standards.
  • Experience in international projects and working with diverse teams.
