Job summary

Johnson Controls in Dublin is seeking an experienced Critical Systems Electrical Commissioning Lead to shape and deliver commissioning of advanced critical-power and cooling infrastructure for next-generation data centres.

This hands-on leadership role combines commissioning strategy, factory testing, site execution and integrated systems testing, working with electrical, mechanical and controls teams to energise, test and prove systems before handover.

Qualifications

• Relevant electrical commissioning, testing or critical-power experience.
• Experience with data centres is preferred but not essential; candidates from mission-critical facilities, industrial power, utilities, manufacturing, pharmaceutical or similar environments are encouraged to apply.
• Practical understanding of electrical distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators and protection systems.
• Experience with electrical testing, energisation and commissioning procedures.
• Understanding of redundancy, failure-mode and recovery testing.
• Familiarity with load banks, load progression and integrated testing.
• Knowledge of SCADA/EPMS/BMS systems is advantageous.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualification, trade background or equivalent practical experience.
• HV authorisation or switching experience is advantageous.

Critical Systems Commissioning lead – Electrical Silent-Aire | Dublin

What you will do We are looking for an experienced Critical Systems Electrical Commissioning Lead to help shape and deliver the commissioning of advanced critical-power and cooling infrastructure for next-generation data centres. This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining commissioning strategy, factory testing, site execution and integrated systems testing. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls and project teams to ensure systems are safely energised, tested, integrated and proven before handover. The role offers exposure to complex projects across multiple regions and the opportunity to influence commissioning standards and best practices across the business.

How you will do it

Commissioning Strategy & Governance

Develop and maintain electrical commissioning strategies and standards. Define energisation sequences, safety requirements and control philosophies. Develop failure-mode, resilience and recovery testing. Provide technical leadership and escalation support for commissioning issues.

Systems Scope

• MV/LV electrical distribution.


• UPS systems.


• Standby generation and fuel systems.


• ATS/STS and switchgear.


• Busways and rack power distribution.


• Earthing and bonding systems.


• BAS, EPMS, SCADA integration.


• Electrical interfaces with cooling and mechanical systems.

Testing & Procedures

• Develop and review electrical commissioning scripts.


• Define black-building and power-restoration testing.


• Develop load-bank and live IT-load testing procedures


• Establish acceptance criteria aligned with uptime, redundancy and safety requirements.


• Review FAT/FWT, SAT and commissioning documentation.

Factory, Site & Regional Support

• Support commissioning activities from factory testing through site deployment and handover.


• Review method statements, switching plans and test documentation.


• Witness critical energisation, load testing and integrated testing.


• Provide technical support to regional commissioning teams.


• Drive consistent commissioning standards and lessons learned across projects.

Integrated Systems Testing (IST)

• Lead the electrical contribution to integrated systems testing.


• Coordinate closely with mechanical and controls commissioning teams.


• Validate power-failure impacts on cooling systems, including CDUs and other critical cooling equipment.


• Verify fail-safe controls, alarms, recovery sequences and system resilience.


• Support client-witnessed testing and operational demonstrations.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure safe systems of work for LV/HV activities.


• Apply LOTO, switching-authority and permit-to-work requirements.


• Promote a strong commissioning and electrical-safety culture.

What we look for
