Job summary

Johnson Controls International (JCI) seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our AI Engineering team in Cork in a hands-on, full-stack capacity. You will build front-ends in Blazor/React, APIs in .NET/Python, and integrate with Azure AI and enterprise data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience building modern web applications with C#, Razor/Blazor, CSS and JavaScript.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating front ends with distributed back-end services.
• Hands-on experience delivering AI-enabled applications (LLM, RAG, etc.).
• Experience with Azure-hosted applications and automated delivery using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience creating automation and test tooling with TypeScript, PowerShell and C#.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain production-grade web applications exposing AI capabilities through clear, responsive and accessible user experiences.
• Develop component-based front ends using C#, Razor/Blazor, CSS and JavaScript, applying responsive design and reusable design-system patterns.
• Build secure back-end services and REST APIs using C# and .NET, with Python services where required for AI and data integration.
• Design application boundaries, contracts and integration patterns across front ends, APIs, AI services, data stores and enterprise platforms.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, input validation, error handling, auditability and secure management of secrets and configuration.
• Improve performance, reliability and maintainability through profiling, caching, asynchronous processing and sound engineering patterns.
• Integrate applications with Azure OpenAI and other approved model endpoints, AI Foundry capabilities, AI Search, vector stores and enterprise APIs.
• Build application experiences for conversational AI, enterprise search, document intelligence, summarisation and AI-assisted workflows.
• Implement streaming responses, citations and source attribution, structured outputs, tool calling and human-in-the-loop controls.
• Collaborate with AI engineers on RAG and agentic solutions, translating model capabilities into user-facing features.
• Implement safeguards including prompt/output validation, content filtering and access controls.
• Measure and optimise end-to-end quality, latency, reliability and cost.
