Job summary

Excel Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Manager for a busy Bray convenience store in Co. Wicklow. You will support the Store Manager, lead a team and drive excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities include staffing, stock control, and ensuring high standards of merchandising, HACCP compliance and health & safety. The role offers a hands-on leader ready to progress in retail management within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, Trainee Manager or experienced Supervisor within convenience or grocery retail.
• Strong people-management and communication skills.
• Commercially aware with a good understanding of retail KPIs.
• Hands-on, energetic and capable of leading from the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Support the Store Manager with the day-to-day running of the store
• Lead, motivate and develop the team to deliver excellent customer service
• Take full responsibility for the store in the Store Manager's absence
• Manage staff deployment, rotas, breaks and daily task allocation
• Monitor sales, labour, waste, margins and other key store KPIs
• Ensure excellent standards across merchandising, availability and store presentation
• Oversee stock ordering, deliveries, replenishment and stock control
• Support the management of fresh food and deli operations
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety and health & safety requirements
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management
• Identify opportunities to improve sales, operational efficiency and the customer experience
• Support promotional activity and ensure strong execution of company standards
