Job summary

AIR Sligo is seeking a Controls Engineer to join our automation team in Ireland. You will design, develop, and implement advanced control systems for bespoke automation equipment, collaborating with a skilled engineering group on diverse global projects.

Responsibilities include developing control software, debugging PLC/HMI/Robotics, and ensuring safety and compliance. A degree in engineering and a minimum of five years' experience are expected, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Min 5 years relevant experience creating machine control systems.
• Proficient in AB ControlLogix and Siemens S7 programming.
• Experience with machine vision (Cognex, Keyence) and drive systems.
• Good communication, self-starting, ownership, and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop concepts and specifications from User Requirement Specifications.
• Program and debug PLC/HMI/Robotics/Motion Control/Vision systems.
• Lead controls design, commissioning, and safety of systems.
• Coordinate build and debug of equipment with suppliers.
• Guide junior staff and ensure project milestones are met.
• Develop machine documentation to EU standards.
• Meet project deliverables and deadlines.
