Enva is seeking a Contracts Manager to oversee waste management services for pharmaceutical client sites. The role focuses on safe, compliant, and cost-effective waste collection, transport, recycling, and disposal in line with environmental legislation and company standards.

The role involves maintaining strong client and supplier relationships, monitoring contractor performance, and driving continuous improvement across the facility’s environmental governance and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in Life Sciences/pharma waste management and regulatory compliance.
• DGSA certification preferred.
• Strong IT skills with Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all statutory requirements and site SOPs are implemented and maintained.
• Conduct regular audits of Waste Management for compliance and effectiveness.
• Verify accuracy of monthly waste data, returns, and reports before month-end submission.
• Ensure waste management documentation and reporting align with statutory obligations and SOPs.
• Produce and maintain site and statutory waste reports on time and accessible for inspections.
• Manage operation and organization of the Waste Compound for hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
• Coordinate collection of waste streams from satellite locations and transfer to the waste compound for segregation.

Description

The Contracts Manager is responsible for the effective management, procurement, and delivery of waste management services on pharmaceutical client sites. The role ensures that all waste collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal activities are conducted safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively in accordance with applicable environmental legislation and company standards.

The Contracts Manager develops and maintains strong relationships with client, waste service providers, and key stakeholders to ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction. The role is responsible for monitoring contractor performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining the highest standards of environmental compliance, operational efficiency, and regulatory governance across the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all applicable statutory requirements and site governance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are implemented, maintained, updated, and approved by Site EHS where required.
• Conduct regular audits of all Waste Management to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
• Verify the accuracy of all monthly waste data, returns, and reports, ensuring they are reviewed and audited before month-end submission
• Ensure all waste management documentation and reporting are completed in accordance with statutory obligations and site SOP requirements.
• Produce and maintain all site and statutory waste reports accurately and on time, ensuring documentation is readily available for client, and regulatory inspections.
• Carry out continuous assessments of waste management activities, including performance, compliance, and cost-effectiveness evaluations.
• Manage the operation, organisation, and functionality of the Waste Compound for both hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the collection of all waste streams from satellite waste locations across the site, ensuring transfer to the waste management compound for segregation and packaging.
• Manage and ensure the correct segregation, packaging, labelling, and storage of all hazardous waste within designated chemical waste storage areas.
• Manage and ensure the correct segregation, packaging, labelling, and storage of non-hazardous waste within approved storage areas of the Waste Compound.
• Coordinate and organise the off-site shipment of hazardous, biohazardous, and non-hazardous waste streams.
• Prepare all waste consignments for transportation, ensuring compliance with applicable waste and transport regulations.
• Adhere to all site procedures, risk assessments, and safety instructions to maintain a safe working environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Promote continuous improvement in waste management operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and best practice standards are always maintained.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• DGSA Certified (Preferred)
• Hazardous waste reporting experience.
• Experience working within Life Sciences and/or pharmaceutical environments.
• Strong IT skills, with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven stakeholder management and engagement experience, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Decisive, proactive, and solutions focused.
• Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced, outdoor industrial environment.
