Job summary

The Coombe Hospital invites applications for a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological services. The role includes leadership of education, training and audit within these services and involvement in routine hospital care.

The Consultant will attend The Coombe Hospital and clinics within the group catchment to provide diagnostic, treatment or consultation services as appropriate, participate in service development, supervision of NCHDs,

Responsibilities

• Provision of Obstetric & Gynecological services at The Coombe Hospital
• Responsibility for education, training and audit in relation to these services.
• Involvement and provision of services at the Coombe
• Other commitments as maybe required to the Master/CEO and CCOO
• On Call commitment to The Coombe Hospital
• Attend at The Coombe Hospital and in emergencies as required.
• Attend at clinics/sites maintained by the TCH within the group catchment to provide diagnostic, treatment or consultation services as appropriate.
• Participate in development of and undertake all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant’s area of competence per the Service Plan/TCH policies
• Ensure duties are undertaken to minimize delays for patients and disruption of services
• Provide consultation in the Consultant’s area of expertise for patients of other Consultants on request
• Provide teaching and lectures as required in hospitals for student midwives/nurses and staff
• Supervise and be responsible for diagnosis, treatment and care provided by non-Consultant Hospital Doctors treating patients
• Provide emergency gynecology services on call.

• To attend at TCH and at such times as may be determined by the TCH and in emergencies as required, and to remain in attendance there at as long as his/her services are required.
• To attend at any clinic or site maintained by the TCH within the group catchment as appropriate and to provide either there or in the appropriate hospital such diagnostic, treatment or consultation service as may be appropriate.
• To participate in development of and undertake all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant’s area of competence, as set out within the Service Plan/TCH in line with policies as specified by the Employer.
• To ensure that duties and functions are undertaken in a manner that minimizes delays for patients and possible disruption of services.
• To provide, as appropriate, consultation in the Consultant’s area of designated expertise in respect of patients of other Consultants at their request.
• To provide teaching and lectures as required in the hospitals for student midwives/nurses, other midwives/nurses in training and other staff.
• To supervise and be responsible for diagnosis, treatment and care provided by non-Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs) treating patients under the Consultant’s care
• To provide emergency gynecology services on call.
