Our client is seeking a dynamic and resilient Consultant in Emergency Medicine to join our acute medical team for a fixed term contract of 6 months.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading shop‑floor clinical care within a busy Emergency Department (ED), supervising trauma resuscitation, optimizing acute patient flow, and driving clinical standards across emergency care pathways.
Clinical Leadership: Provide senior, hands‑on clinical leadership and decision‑making on the ED floor, managing major trauma, critical illness, and acute undifferentiated medical conditions.
Resuscitation & Flow: Lead trauma teams, oversee resuscitation bays, and collaborate with inpatient specialty teams to streamline admission and discharge pathways.
Emergency Department On-Call: Participate in the Consultant Emergency Medicine on-call rota to ensure continuous governance and acute clinical cover.
Quality & Governance: Drive patient safety initiatives, clinical audits, and risk management aligned with the HSE National Clinical Programme for Emergency Medicine (EMP).
Education & Simulation: Lead resuscitation training, simulation exercises, and clinical supervision for registrars, SHOs, and nursing staff.
Registration: Specialist Registration in Emergency Medicine with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or eligibility for immediate registration.
Qualifications: MB BCh BAO (or equivalent), FRCEM (or equivalent higher specialist qualification/CSCST).
Experience: Extensive experience in acute emergency care, advanced trauma life support (ATLS), emergency airway management, and departmental leadership.
Competencies: Crisis resource management, rapid decision‑making, and strong cross‑specialty communication skills.
