Job summary

Walls Construction is seeking an Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates for complex construction projects in Cork. You will measure quantities, price works, and analyse drawings and specifications while coordinating with supply chain partners to support pre-contract decisions.

You will maintain estimating records, support risk analysis, and produce detailed tender submissions for senior management and clients. Strong numeric skills, tender experience, and proficiency in Excel are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator in construction, preferably with main contractor or consultancy.
• Strong numerical ability and attention to detail, with experience in take-offs and bills of quantities.
• Competent with Excel/Word/Outlook; experience with estimating software and data systems is desirable.
• Understanding of construction methods, plant, materials and procurement routes.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills to meet tight tender deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, proactive and team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and take-offs from drawings and tender docs.
• Analyse tender documents and site information to identify risks and opportunities.
• Obtain and compare subcontractor/supplier quotations for commercial review.
• Maintain cost databases, templates and precedent documents for consistency.
• Collaborate with design, commercial and site teams to align programme, methodology and cost.
• Prepare pricing breakdowns and tender submission documents for senior management.
• Support risk management with contingency allowances and sensitivity analysis.
• Ensure accurate record-keeping in DMS and estimating libraries.
• Participate in bid meetings and provide pricing progress updates.
• Adhere to health & safety, quality and data security procedures.
