Job summary

Crossley Scott is seeking a CSA Estimator to join the Transmission & Distribution estimating team in Ireland. The role focuses on preparing accurate cost estimates for high‑voltage substation and grid connection projects, with close collaboration across engineering, planning and procurement.

Responsibilities include reviewing RFQs, performing quantity take‑offs and BOQs, pricing CSA elements, developing tender programmes and supporting bid handover to Operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in CSA estimating.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Solid commercial awareness with strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant estimating software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs to fully understand project scope, specifications, and tender requirements.
• Analyse project requirements to ensure all scope elements and compliance obligations are in tender submissions.
• Attend site visits as required to assess project conditions and constraints.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs from design drawings and develop in-house BOQs.
• Collaborate with estimating team to ensure accurate pricing of CSA elements.
• Prepare and issue RFQs for materials and subcontract packages to support competitive pricing.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for technical compliance and value.
• Work with project planners to develop tender programmes for civil works.
• Support handover of successful bids to Operations for continuity.
• Participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings with clients and stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The CSA Estimator will be part of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) estimating team, responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for high-voltage substation and grid connection projects. The role requires strong technical, commercial, and analytical capabilities, along with close collaboration across engineering, planning, and procurement functions.

Some of the key duties of this role

• Review Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to fully understand project scope, specifications, and tender requirements.
• Analyse project requirements to ensure all scope elements and compliance obligations are incorporated into tender submissions.
• Attend site visits as required to assess project conditions and constraints.
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs from design drawings and develop in-house Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
• Collaborate with estimating team members to ensure accurate pricing of civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) elements.
• Prepare and issue RFQs for materials and subcontract packages to support competitive pricing.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for technical compliance, commercial competitiveness, and overall value.
• Work with project planners to develop detailed tender programmes for civil works.
• Support the handover of successful bids to the Operations team, ensuring continuity and clarity.
