AMF Consulting is recruiting an experienced Contracts Manager for a senior leadership role within an established engineering contractor delivering projects across Ireland.

The role involves oversight of a portfolio from award to completion, ensuring safety, programme, quality and commercial controls are maintained while leading Project Managers, Supervisors and operational teams to deliver on client expectations.

AMF Consulting is partnering with an established and growing engineering contractor to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially focused professional with a strong background in electrical, civil, utilities or infrastructure projects.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Contracts Manager will oversee a portfolio of projects from contract award through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to Project Managers, Supervisors and operational teams while maintaining strong commercial control and excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of electrical, civil, public lighting, utilities, infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
  • Oversee projects from contract award through delivery, close-out and handover.
  • Monitor programmes, budgets, resources, quality, safety and overall project performance.
  • Ensure project teams understand contractual obligations, risks and commercial opportunities.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and the commercial team to monitor costs, valuations, variations, claims, forecasting and final accounts.
  • Identify project, contractual, operational and commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Lead project reviews and provide clear performance, resource and risk updates to senior management.
  • Champion a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and statutory obligations.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors and operational teams.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, local authorities, utilities, contractors and other key stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective coordination between electrical and civil delivery teams.
  • Drive consistency in project planning, scheduling, reporting, cost tracking and risk management.
  • Support continuous improvement, operational excellence and lessons-learned initiatives across the business.
  • Ensure projects are properly documented, closed out and commercially ready for invoicing.
  • Resolve escalated operational, contractual and project delivery issues where required.
Requirements
  • Degree, Higher Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7–10 years' experience managing multi-discipline construction, engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience within electrical contracting and/or civil engineering works.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial and contractual management experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
  • Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, risk management and reporting.
  • A proactive approach to safety, quality, accountability and continuous improvement.

Experience in public lighting, utilities, renewable energy or infrastructure projects would be particularly advantageous. A Project Management or Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH, along with knowledge of public-sector contracts and framework agreements, would also be beneficial.
