Job summary

Highfield Healthcare invites applications for the post of Healthcare Assistant. We offer full-time permanent positions across Mental Health, Alzheimer’s Care Centre and Nursing Home, aiming to support people to live to their fullest potential with privacy, dignity and choice.

Suitable candidates must hold a FETAC/QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support, including Care of the Older Person and Care Skills modules, and be caring and empathetic with a strong interest in elder care.

Qualifications

• Hold a FETAC/QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support including the Care of the Older Person and Care Skills modules.
• Be caring, patient, empathetic and have a strong interest in care of the elderly.
• Experience in a similar working environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work at all times in ways that demonstrate understanding of the job and follow guidance from senior staff.
• Be actively involved in the individuals care and support, plan and review needs and progress.
• Provide personal, emotional and practical support.
• Promote effective communication and interaction with others.
• Ensure confidentiality and privacy of information about individuals.
• Assist with personal care tasks and daily living activities.
• Contribute to quality of service delivery by collaborating with the team.
• Attend supervision meetings and participate in learning and development.
• Adhere to Hospital Policies and Procedures.
• Report any serious incidents immediately.
