Job summary

The Rehab Group in Ireland seeks a Community Support Worker to promote independent living and community integration at the Lifford Resource Centre, Donegal. You will assist service users with activities and develop educational programmes, coordinating with the Community Services Manager for person-centered delivery.

Role requires at least 1 year in disability work, a full driving license, and willingness to undertake RehabCare training.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in the disability field (minimum 1 year).
  • Experience delivering 1:1 support in the community.
  • Ability to promote self-advocacy and support independent living.
  • Experience providing personal care and maintaining hygiene.
  • Strong IT and reporting skills; driving license required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, implement, monitor and review educational, recreational and occupational programs in the community.
  • Document information, update records and complete necessary paperwork for accountability.
  • Ensure interactions with service users are respectful, dignified and inclusive.
  • Deliver quality service by applying monitoring systems and assisting with daily living tasks.
  • Support independent living by helping access local resources and integrate into the community.
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Comply with health and safety and follow risk assessments; may include personal care.

Community Support Worker

Permanent, 39 hours per week

Location: Lifford Resource Centre, Donegal

About the Role:

The purpose of the job is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development and work opportunities for service users. To assist the Community Services Manager in the development, implementation and delivery of quality customer focused and cost-effective community services to service users at an appropriate time and setting. This includes the provision of individual programmes and activities to meet the needs, choices and abilities of service users, and an active contribution towards the involvement of RehabCare in the expansion of this service.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience of working in the Community.
  • Experience of working 1:1 in the community.
  • Experience of promoting self-advocacy.
  • Experience in the provision of personal care.
  • To support individuals with independent living skills, develop education and employment opportunities.
  • To maintain a basic knowledge of first aid/personal care and to implement good hygiene practices.
  • Strong IT and reporting skills.
  • Full clean driving license and access to a car for business purposes.
  • Flexible with regard working hours in order to meet the needs of the service users.
  • Understanding and knowledge of intellectual, physical and or mental health disability.

Your Responsibilities:
  • To plan, develop, implement, monitor and review appropriate educational, recreational and occupational programs within the community. To ensure best practice in line with up to date research regarding Quality of Life improvements. To liaise with families, the multidisciplinary team and key community-based personnel in the pursuit of accessible community activities for service users.
  • To document information, update records, and complete necessary paperwork for communication and accountability purposes.
  • To ensure all interaction with service users is approached with dignity, respect, equality and incorporates choice.
  • To ensure delivery of a quality service by implementing and reviewing quality monitoring systems appropriate to requirements of each individual, providing personal assistance in all aspects of everyday living skills, carrying out any duties necessary to ensure the comfort and hygiene of service users.
  • To enshrine the concept of independent living by supporting service users to integrate into their local community and access local resources.
  • To ensure the privacy and confidentiality of service users at all times.
  • To comply with health and safety legislation and ensure the safe use of appliances and equipment. To follow Risk assessments that are agreed and in place.
  • This role may also include personal care if and when required, dependent on the individualised needs of those who use the service.
Additional Requirements:
  • Full manual driving licence is essential.
  • Access to a car for business purposes insured in your name.
  • Essential: A minimum of one year’s experience working in the field of disability.
  • Desirable: A third level degree, preferably in Social Care
  • Willingness to participate in RehabCare mandatory and further development training programme.

If applicable, candidates will need to provide a police certificate for any country they've lived in before moving to Ireland

A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign.

Salary starting from point 1 €31,561.64 to point 5 €35,982.66 (pro rata),issubject to experience and qualification. The 12-point salary scale provides annual progression opportunities up to€43,731.06per annum.
