Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd invites an experienced Commissioning Engineer/Industrial Electrician to join our team. The role covers the commissioning of electrical installations, MEICA systems, and instrumentation on projects across North Munster and Leinster.

Collaboration with process engineers and on-site teams is essential to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient commissioning.

Qualifications

  • Trade Qualified in Electrical or E&I RECI certified electrician with 5 years post apprenticeship work experience.
  • Mechanical experience an advantage.
  • Water/Wastewater experience an advantage.
  • Experience in commissioning and proving MEICA systems.
  • Ability to liaise directly with customers on commissioning activities and sign-off.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Safe Pass.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards are adhered to on-site.
  • Support project delivery teams in commissioning test documentation.
  • Responsible for delivery and commissioning of electrical installations.
  • Install and commission instrumentation and equipment.
  • Install Pumps and associated VSDs and controls.
  • Read and understand working drawings and schematics.
  • Perform initial power-up of MCCs and rotation checks on motors and I/O points.
  • Set up instrumentation in the field and scale 4-20 mA signals to PLC; calibrate instruments as needed.
  • Supervise suppliers, subcontractors and site staff; coordinate with project team and Maintenance Dept.
  • Work with Process Engineers to optimise water and wastewater processes.
  • Prepare commissioning documentation including pre-test inspections, sheets and SATs.
  • Review own schedule and work independently.
  • Some wastewater & water process awareness would help.
  • Electrical fault finding and recertification.
  • Attend FATs and SATs and provide sign-off for the company.
  • Provide completion snag lists to contractors.

The main knowledge, skills, and experience required of the Industrial Electrician/ Commissioning Engineer are outlined as follows:

  • Trade Qualified in Electrical or E&I RECI [or equivalent] certified electrician with 5 years post apprenticeship work experience.
  • Mechanical experience a distinct advantage
  • Experience in Water/Wastewater a distinct advantage
  • Experienced in the commissioning and process proving of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) systems.
  • Ability to liaise directly with customers on commissioning activities and sign-off.
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Safe Pass
Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Industrial Electrician/ Commissioning Engineer are outlined as follows:

  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.
  • Support project delivery teams in the development and preparation of commissioning test documentation.
  • Responsible for delivery and commissioning of small to large sized Electrical installations
  • Installation and commissioning of different types of instrumentation and equipment
  • Installation of Pumps and associated VSD and controls.
  • To be able to read and understand working drawings and Schematics.
  • Conduct initial power-up of MCC’s and complete rotation checks on motors and I/O point- to-point checks (dry testing).
  • Set up instrumentation in the field and scale instrument 4-20 mA signals back to PLC. calibrate any instruments requiring field calibration.
  • The position includes responsibility for supervision of suppliers and sub-contractors and also site-based staff. You will also co-ordinate with the project team and Service &Maintenance Dept. as required.
  • Work with Process Engineers in order to optimise and improve the process performance of water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Complete all commissioning documentation including pre-test inspections, commissioning sheets and SAT documentation.
  • Proactively review and monitor your own work schedule and ability to work on your own initiative is essential.
  • Some Wastewater & Water process awareness would be beneficial.
  • Electrical systems fault finding and recertification.
  • Attend third part Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) as required and provide acceptance sign-off on behalf of the company.
  • Complete preliminary installation checks and provide completion snag lists to mechanical and electrical sub-contractors.
