Job summary

Glanua Limited is seeking an Industrial Electrician to support projects across North Munster and Leinster. The role is site-based in Kilkenny, Ireland, focusing on installation, commissioning and testing of electrical systems, instrumentation and control equipment while reading drawings and FAT/SAT procedures.

The ideal candidate holds an electrical or E&I RECI certification with about 5 years post-apprenticeship experience, plus a full driving licence.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified in Electrical or E&I RECI (or equivalent) with 5 years post-apprenticeship experience.
• Experience in water/wastewater and MEICA systems is advantageous.
• Ability to read drawings and schematics and perform commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, health, environmental and sustainability standards on-site.
• Support commissioning test documentation and project delivery teams.
• Delivery and commissioning of electrical installations of varied size.
• Install and commission instrumentation, pumps, VSDs and controls.
• Read drawings/schematics and perform field calibration and 4-20 mA signaling.
• Supervise suppliers and subcontractors; coordinate with project and maintenance teams.
• Work with process engineers to optimise water and wastewater processes.
• Complete commissioning documentation and FAT/SAT sign-offs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the Industrial Electrician are outlined as follows:

• Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are always adhered to on-site.


• Support project delivery teams in the development and preparation of commissioning test documentation.


• Responsible for delivery and commissioning of small to large sized Electrical installations


• Installation and commissioning of different types of instrumentation and equipment


• Installation of Pumps and associated VSD and controls.


• To be able to read and understand working drawings and Schematics.


• Conduct initial power-up of MCC’s and complete rotation checks on motors and I/O point- to-point checks (dry testing).


• Set up instrumentation in the field and scale instrument 4-20 mA signals back to PLC. calibrate any instruments requiring field calibration.


• The position includes responsibility for supervision of suppliers and sub-contractors and also site-based staff. You will also co-ordinate with the project team and Service &Maintenance Dept. as required.


• Work with Process Engineers in order to optimise and improve the process performance of water and wastewater infrastructure.


• Complete all commissioning documentation including pre-test inspections, commissioning sheets and SAT documentation.


• Proactively review and monitor your own work schedule and ability to work on your own initiative is essential.


• Some Wastewater & Water process awareness would be beneficial.


• Electrical systems fault finding and recertification.


• Attend third part Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) as required and provide acceptance sign-off on behalf of the company.


• Complete preliminary installation checks and provide completion snag lists to mechanical and electrical sub-contractors.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The main knowledge, skills, and experience required of the Industrial Electrician are outlined as follows:

• Trade Qualified in Electrical or E&I RECI [or equivalent] certified electrician with 5 years post apprenticeship work experience.


• Mechanical experience a distinct advantage


• Experience in Water/Wastewater a distinct advantage


• Experienced in the commissioning and process proving of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) systems.


• Ability to liaise directly with customers on commissioning activities and sign-off.


• Full clean driving licence


• Safe Pass
