Job summary

Alstom in Cork, Ireland is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support commercial management and protect project margins while mitigating commercial risk. You will work with the Commercial Manager and Lead Quantity Surveyor to optimise outcomes in line with Alstom policies.

The role requires NEC3/NEC4 experience, strong cost control, and the ability to manage contract documents. It is a permanent position with a salary around €70,000 plus private healthcare and pension.

Qualifications

• Experience in contracting commercial department desirable.
• Guidance on quantification, costing of construction works and elemental cost analysis.
• Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts including compensation events.
• Knowledge of risk registers and risk management.
• Plan and interpret contract documents to determine scope of work.
• Experience with tendering and pre-contract cost analysis.

Responsibilities

• Administer client payment cycles to maximise income and cash flow.
• Manage sub-contract accounts from project startup to final account.
• Interpret contract conditions to protect rights and obligations.
• Maintain contemporaneous records for progress and change control.
• Gather elemental costs to support accurate project financials.
• Participate in Monthly Project Reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Support Commercial Managers and project teams on commercial topics.
• Develop relationships with clients, teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Evaluate processes to support continuous improvement.
• Promote environment, health and safety responsibilities.
