Commercial Accountant: Construction Growth

Job summary

Conack, a leading Irish construction company, is hiring an experienced Accountant to join the Finance team in Limerick. You will own and manage key accounting functions across the business, including management accounts, payroll and compliance.

You will work closely with senior management to deliver accurate financial information, support budgeting and cashflow, and liaise with external auditors and tax advisers as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA, or a suitably experienced accountant.
• Experience as Accountant or Financial Accountant or similar role.
• Construction industry experience is desirable but not essential.
• Strong knowledge of management accounts, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable and Revenue compliance.
• Understanding VAT, PAYE and RCT within an Irish business environment.
• Payroll processing experience is advantageous.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; proficient with Excel.
• Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar; payroll software like CollSoft is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Support daily finance operations, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
• Carry out reconciliations of bank, suppliers, debtors and balance sheets.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and cashflows monitoring.
• Maintain records for subcontractors, suppliers and project expenditure.
• Assist with year-end audit file and liaise with external auditors during statutory audits.
• Support statutory financial statements and CRO submissions; liaise with tax advisers.
• Provide financial information to internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Review and improve financial procedures and internal controls.
