Job summary

Dublin Simon Community in Dublin is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to provide community-based addiction treatment and relapse prevention. You will work both independently and as part of a team, supporting clients to build recovery capital and achieve personal goals.

The role involves lone-working flexibility and seven-day service coverage, with a starting salary of €33,500 and opportunities for progression. A comprehensive benefits package includes training and generous leave.

Qualifications

• Certification in social care or related field is required.
• Minimum two years in social or caring setting; homelessness/addiction experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and handle lone-working responsibilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and IT systems for records and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to clients using the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA).
• Work within the team to address client needs and implement tailored support plans, including housing, relapse prevention, and life-skills development.
• Manage referrals, admissions, discharges, and ensure timely follow-up on support plan actions.
• Conduct health and safety checks, maintain service hygiene, and ensure readiness for new client arrivals.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to secure resources and services for clients, including mental health, addiction aftercare, and housing options.
• Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining accurate records, updating Salesforce, PASS, and preparing reports.
• Engage in proactive problem-solving to address challenges and barriers clients face in their recovery journey.
• Facilitate structured therapeutic activities and ensure consistency in service delivery through effective communication and handovers.
• Ensure a safe, substance-free environment through regular testing and adherence to policies.

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing community-based addiction treatment and relapse prevention services. Working independently and as part of a team, you will support clients in building recovery capital and achieving their personal goals. This role involves lone working and requires flexibility, as the service operates with seven-day liability to meet client needs.

• Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
• Contract: Permanent.
• Salary: From €33,500 depending on experience,with opportunities for progression

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Certification in Social Care, Addiction Studies, Psychology, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a social or caring setting, with one year in homelessness or addiction services.
• Strong understanding of recovery capital and housing challenges within the Dublin region.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage lone-working responsibilities.
• Energetic and resilient with strong problem-solving skills and adaptability.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and IT systems for record-keeping and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to advocate for clients effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in CRA, CBT, or addiction studies.
• Experience conducting health and safety inspections and audits.
• Familiarity with best practices in addiction recovery and homelessness services.
