Job summary

St James's Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager II to provide leadership in the Pre-Assessment and Capsule Endoscopy service. The role focuses on expert clinical governance, patient-centered care, and efficient use of endoscopy resources within national standards.

You will lead the team, ensure safe patient pathways, and deliver education on procedures and preparation. The post requires registered nursing with NMBI, extensive post-registration experience, and proven management

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse with NMBI (or eligible to register).
• 5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital or similar within last 7 years.
• Demonstrate management experience in the last 2 years.
• IT skills including excellent keyboard skills.
• Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and HCA teams in the last 2 years.
• Clinical managerial and administrative capacity to set up and discharge the role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Pre-Assessment and Capsule Endoscopy Service.
• Validate patient suitability for Endoscopic procedures including Capsule Endoscopy.
• Ensure safe patient selection and risk stratification.
• Educate patients on procedures, diet adjustments, bowel preparation, medications.
• Oversee storage, provision and delivery of PILLCAM medications.
• Communicate results to referring clinician and patient.
• Arrange appropriate follow-up and referrals for additional investigations.
• Maintain quality, safety and risk management at local/directorate level.
• Adhere to professional standards and mandatory training.
