Job summary

Bon Secours Hospital Cork is seeking a Clinical Admissions Co-ordinator to support the Bed Management Department, optimise bed capacity and ensure safe patient flow. You will assess admission requests and coordinate scheduled admissions with the Bed Manager, GPs, Consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires NMBI registration, strong clinical judgement and excellent communication. Post-registration management training is preferred; experience in acute settings is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered in the General Division of the live register of nurses kept by the NMBI.
• Completed a management course and/or other relevant post registration courses preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of hospital admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures with strong assessment skills.

Responsibilities

• Assess and prioritise acute admission requests.
• Co-ordinate scheduled admissions with Bed Manager, GPs, Consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Communicate clinical information to support safe admission decisions and timely transfers/discharges.
• Support bed management to optimise bed capacity and patient flow.

The Clinical Admissions Co-ordinator will support the Bed Management Department in the effective co-ordination and prioritisation of hospital admissions, contributing to safe patient care, efficient patient flow and the optimal utilisation of bed capacity.The post holder will assess and prioritise acute admission requests and co-ordinate scheduled admissions in collaboration with the Bed Manager, GPs, Consultants, Clinical Nurse Managers and multidisciplinary teams. They will ensure effective communication of clinical information to support safe admission decisions and facilitate timely transfers and discharges.The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgement, excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy acute hospital environment.Candidate Requirements: Registered in the General Division of the live register of nurses kept by the NMBICompleted a management course and/or other relevant post registration courses preferred.Excellent knowledge of hospital admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures with strong assessment skills.Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in an acute medical and surgical inpatient setting.Preceptorship/teaching and assessing of students’ experience is essential.Experience in the implementation of service improvement and development.Experience the management of effective utilisation of bed capacity.Why Join Us?
