Job summary

Inland Fisheries Ireland invites applications for a Research Officer OPWCRP in the Research and Development division. The role involves day-to-day delivery of the Climate Resilience Project, generating high-quality scientific data to inform management and conservation of Ireland’s fish species and habitats, and supporting evidence-based responses to climate change.

Qualifications

• A relevant Diploma or Degree or equivalent (NFQ Level 7).
• Desirable Honours Degree or equivalent (NFQ Level 8).
• Experience in project management and leadership for multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Day to day delivery of the OPWCRP under supervision of senior research officer.
• Develop innovative research programme to determine impacts of climate change on Irish fish in drained catchments.
• Produce reports and papers on project progress.
• Manage, coach, mentor, and motivate staff; monitor budget and procurement.
• Collect data on fish populations and environmental conditions; supervise data collection technologies.
• Analyze data using statistical/modelling techniques; liaise with GIS team to develop vulnerability maps.
