Alignerr is seeking a Climate Data Specialist (AI Training) to apply climate science expertise in developing complex problem sets that train AI models. This fully remote, hourly contract role invites researchers to work asynchronously on real-world environmental challenges.

Ideal candidates hold a Master’s or PhD in environmental sciences and are proficient in Python or R, with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently across time zones.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want to apply their deep scientific knowledge to frontier AI development.

What You’ll Do

• Design, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with genuine real-world relevance
• Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines to construct complex, rigorous problem sets
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning
• Evaluate the scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity of AI-generated outputs in your area of expertise
• Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of scientific rigor and communication quality

Who You Are

• Holds a Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology, or a closely related field
• Experienced with Python or R for research or data analysis
• Deep subject matter expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or environmental systems
• Exceptionally clear written communicator — able to explain complex concepts with precision
• Detail-oriented, methodical, and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment
• Fluent in English

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality assurance, or AI evaluation workflows
• Background in interdisciplinary environmental research spanning multiple subfields
• Familiarity with AI tools or large language models as an end user
• Experience designing or grading advanced academic problem sets
