Job summary

DesignBuild Search are working with a leading Engineering Contractor who specialise in the Civil and utility works. They now have an opening for a Quantity Surveyor to work from their Kildare office.

Requirements include a degree in construction economics or Quantity Surveying, a minimum of 5 years Civil experience, and a strong commercial and contract awareness, with prior Irish or UK experience. The role emphasizes cost control, measurements, valuations and cost reporting throughout projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction economics or Quantity Surveying.
• Minimum 5 years of civil experience.
• Commercial and contractually aware.
• Irish or UK experience essential.

Responsibilities

• Analyse blueprints and other documentation to estimate time, cost, materials and labour.
• Carry out quantity surveying duties including measurements, valuations and contract work sections.
• Maintain well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with project stakeholders.
• Utilise estimating packages and MS Excel/Word to prepare cost plans.
• Consult with clients, vendors and construction managers to discuss cost.
• Monitor costs from vendors/subcontractors and report variances.
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements and regular project cost reports.
• Assess cost effectiveness of products and services to support cost reduction.
