The Civil Construction Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of civil construction activities across renewable energy, power, and infrastructure projects.
The role will lead multiple project teams and subcontractors, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and environmental compliance. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership across all phases of project delivery, from planning and mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
This role plays a key part in supporting Ireland's energy transition through the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure, substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections, wind farms, solar developments, and associated civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead the delivery of civil construction works across multiple renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Develop and oversee construction methodologies, sequencing plans, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project productivity, programme performance, and commercial outcomes.
- Ensure effective project reporting through regular reviews and progress meetings.
- Drive performance through proactive risk management and problem-solving.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all projects.
- Ensure compliance with company HSEQ policies, client requirements, and statutory regulations.
- Lead incident investigations where required and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to verify compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Ensure environmental obligations are met throughout project delivery.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and construction teams.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in recruitment, succession planning, and workforce development activities.
- Support performance management and employee development initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies during construction activities.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to support successful project outcomes.
- Attend client progress meetings and provide updates on project performance.
- Support business development activities and client engagement where required.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Work closely with Project Managers and Commercial teams to monitor project budgets and financial performance.
- Identify and manage project risks, variations, claims, and opportunities.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Ensure efficient utilisation of labour, plant, and materials.
- Review and approve construction programmes and project schedules.
- Identify critical path activities and implement recovery plans where necessary.
- Coordinate resources across multiple projects to maximise efficiency.
- Support project mobilisation and demobilisation activities.
Key Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in civil construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or renewable energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, site operations, and project delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and commercial management.
- Experience working with subcontractors and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
