Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over and in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment for 1 year or more or 18 years and over for certain disadvantaged groups. Your eligibility will have to be verified by the Department.

Job Description

Duties

This is a developmental opportunity, no experience necessary. Accredited training will be provided to support your career.

• Assist the Childcare Worker in the planning and preparation of daily routines and class activities.
• Help with the preparation of breaks.
• Clean and tidy the classroom.
• Shop in the local shop for the centre.
• Spend time with the children, individually and as a group.
• Be involved in the daily activities of the class, with the support and guidance of the childcare worker.
• Work as part of the childcare team with the childcare worker and manager.
• Learn about childcare with the help and support of the team through development meetings with the childcare worker.
• Attend staff meetings and training days when possible.
• Use policies and procedures when working with the children.
• Get to know all of the centre’s policies and procedures over the first few months of work with the help and support of childcare workers.
• Cover break times of childcare workers with the guidance and support of the child care manager.
• Follow accident/incident report procedure with the support and guidance of the child care worker.
