Job summary

Emerald Locums is recruiting a Chief I Respiratory Physiologist for a full-time, permanent position with a leading private hospital in Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Respiratory Physiologist to advance into a senior clinical and leadership role, spanning both Respiratory and Sleep Physiology, and to contribute to service development and student supervision.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in Clinical Measurement Science or Respiratory Physiology.
• Current IICMP registration.
• Minimum of 5 years’ post-degree experience.
• Extensive experience in both Respiratory and Sleep Physiology.
• Experience independently scoring PSGs and HSATs.
• Experience performing advanced sleep testing (MSLT).
• Strong Pulmonary Function Testing experience (CPET, Mannitol).
• Experience supervising Clinical Measurement Science students.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform, analyse and score Polysomnography (PSG) studies.
• Conduct and interpret Home Sleep Apnoea Tests (HSATs).
• Perform advanced sleep investigations including MSLT.
• Carry out a comprehensive range of Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
• Conduct CPET and Mannitol Challenge Testing.
• Support development of Respiratory and Sleep diagnostic services.
• Supervise Clinical Measurement Science students.
• Maintain high standards of patient care and documentation.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to quality improvement and service initiatives.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide specialist Respiratory and Sleep Physiology services, delivering a high standard of diagnostic testing while supporting the ongoing development of the department.

Duties

• Independently perform, analyse and score Polysomnography (PSG) studies

• Perform advanced sleep investigations, including Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT)
• Carry out a comprehensive range of Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs)
• Conduct Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)
• Perform Mannitol Challenge Testing
• Support the ongoing development of Respiratory and Sleep diagnostic services
• Supervise and support Clinical Measurement Science students
• Maintain high standards of patient care, documentation and clinical practice
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement and service initiatives

Requirements

• Recognised qualification in Clinical Measurement Science, Respiratory Physiology or equivalent
• Current IICMP registration
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-degree experience
• Extensive experience in both Respiratory and Sleep Physiology
• Proven experience independently scoring PSGs and HSATs
• Experience performing advanced sleep testing, including MSLT
• Strong Pulmonary Function Testing experience, including CPET and Mannitol Challenge Testing
• Previous experience supervising Clinical Measurement Science students
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
• Eligibility to work in Ireland
