Job summary

HeatGrid Ireland seeks a Head of Technical Development to lead the engineering function, turning opportunities into investable, buildable district heating projects. You will own concept design, feasibility, and technical evidence across Energy Centres, heat networks and customer interfaces, guiding a multidisciplinary team and coordinating with planning, funding and delivery teams.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Significant experience (10+ years) in design and technical development of energy/utility infra.
Track record taking projects from concept to construction-ready and handing to delivery.

Responsibilities

Lead HeatGrid's technical team across Energy Centre Design, Network Design, and Customer Connections.
Direct concept and developed designs including plant selection, footprint, layout and connections.
Define stage-gate criteria and balance design depth with risk and budget.
Own procurement strategies and design handovers to construction and delivery teams.
Support investment cases with technical inputs and cost foundations.
Oversee regulatory compliance, planning support, and stakeholder engagement.
