Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Chartered Clinical / Educational Psychologists or Chartered Psychologists who have training and experience in administering cognitive assessments and/or Autism Diagnostic assessments to join our teams at Sensational Kids Child Development Centres in Kildare, Cork, Mayo, or Monaghan. The Chartered Psychologist will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive psychological assessments, interventions, and therapeutic support to children and adolescents with a range of developmental, emotional, and behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioural functioning of children and adolescents.
  • Conduct Diagnostic Autism Assessments with a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings, utilising evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and educational psychologists, to ensure integrated and holistic care for clients.
  • Offer consultation and support to parents, caregivers, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate understanding of developmental and psychological issues and to promote effective strategies for support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant records in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to enhance clinical practice and contribute to the ongoing development of services at Sensational Kids.
  • Stay abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in clinical psychology and child development to inform and enhance clinical practice.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Undergraduate Degree: Obtain a recognised university degree or diploma (QQI Level 8 equivalent) with first or second-class honours, where psychology is taken as a major subject and honours are obtained in that subject.
  • Postgraduate Qualification: Complete an Irish postgraduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology. Alternatively, an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction, validated by the Department of Health, and recognised by PSI is acceptable.
  • Supervised Clinical Placements: Demonstrate that you have acquired at least 60 days (or equivalent) of supervised clinical placements in appropriate health settings in both areas of Child Disability and Child Psychology as part of your postgraduate professional qualification if required.
  • Must be registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) as a Chartered Psychologist.
  • Minimum of two years of post-qualification experience in clinical practice, preferably working with children and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting psychological assessments and providing evidence-based recommendations for a range of developmental, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • ADOS training and experience of providing autism diagnostic assessments desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to professional development and continuing education in the field of clinical/educational psychology and child development.
