Focus Ireland is seeking a Project Worker in Dublin to provide intensive case management support to young people aged 18 to 26, helping them move toward independent living.

You will carry a designated caseload, undertake assessments, maintain records, and coordinate with other agencies. A third-level degree in social care or CORU registration is required, with at least one year of relevant experience and the ability to work lone hours when needed.

Competenze

• Third-level qualification in social care (youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology, etc.) or CORU registration as Social Care Worker.
• 1 year of direct experience in social care with disadvantaged youth.
• Knowledge of issues affecting youth out-of-home and impact on development.

Location: Dublin

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

The Purpose of this role is to provide intensive case management support to young people aged 18 to 26, addressing the factors that lead to, sustain, or impede their ability to move out of homelessness.

What you will do:

• To work within the framework of the overall objectives of Focus Ireland.
• To establish trusting relationships especially with young people who are living on the streets or in temporary accommodation and who are unattached or out-of-home and engage them in work that enables them to move to a more stable lifestyle.
• To carry a designated case load.
• To undertake assessments and support planning with young people as the lead agent using a Case Management system and protocols and other tools as appropriate to assist the young person to successfully progress toward independent living as appropriate.
• To complete appropriate referrals to other agencies and services as required.
• To develop and maintain professional links with other agencies and services that may offer services to young people. Assisting in the coordination of services for the young people.
• To accompany and provide support to young people on appointments to other services i.e., doctors, counsellors, court etc. and to provide support to young people whilst in custody.
• To be responsible for keeping up to date casework records, daily logs and written assessments. Inputting information on the Focus Ireland Database.
• To attend Team, Section, Agency and external agency’s meetings and training as required.
• To participate in supervision with your line manager and attend Reflective Practice.
• To undertake any other responsibilities and duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Project Leader, Manager or Director of Services.

What you will need:

• A Third Level qualification at degree level in the area of social care i.e. youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology, etc and/or be a CORU registered Social Care Worker.
• 1 year’s direct experience in the social care field working with disadvantaged young people.
• A strong knowledge of issues affecting young people out-of-home and their impact on young people and their physical, emotional, and psychological development.
• Relevant experience of dealing with high risk and challenging behaviour.
• Relevant experience of working in a team which shares a common goal.
• Ability to cope with and manage lone working including out of hours’ work.
