Job summary

ST. AIDAN'S SERVICES seeks motivated individuals to support adults with intellectual disabilities in a person-centered care setting.

You will help individuals pursue meaningful activities, safeguard dignity, and promote autonomy in a respectful, private environment. Training and career progression opportunities accompany a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 in Health Care Support or Social Care is required.
  • Currently undertaking BA/BA (HONS) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care (2nd year).
  • A Diploma or Degree in Social Care or related field is advantageous.

  • Facilitate and implement a person-centered approach tailored to individual goals.
  • Promote rights, dignity, autonomy and privacy for individuals supported.
  • Identify interests and opportunities for meaningful community roles.
  • Ensure wellbeing across all life areas with a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Use positive behaviour support strategies to address behaviours of concern.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
  • Facilitate and implement a personcentered approach for individuals we support, tailored to their unique wishes and goals.
  • Promote and protect the rights of individuals, respecting their dignity, autonomy, and right to make choices, while ensuring their privacy.
  • Actively seek new interests and opportunities for individuals to develop meaningful roles within their communities.
  • Ensure the overall wellbeing of individuals in all areas of their lives, including health and personal care, with a focus on maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Utilise positive behaviour support strategies to address behaviours of concern, always prioritising the individual's wellbeing, health & safety.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate measures to ensure the safety and security of individuals we support.
  • Employ alternative communication methods as needed to facilitate effective communication with individuals.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisation and communication skills, along with proficiency in IT and report writing.
  • Possess a knowledge of New Directions
  • Handle confidential information discreetly and responsibly, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • A minimum of QQI Level 5 in Health Care Support/Social Care. Currently undertaking BA/BA (HONS) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care (year 2) . (A Diploma or Degree in Social Care or other relevant discipline advantageous).
  • 6 months experience of working with people with an Intellectual Disability required.
  • Must hold a full clean driving license and willing to drive company vehicles.
  • Proficient in oral and written English Language
  • Have the legal right to work in Ireland and currently hold valid work authorisation for Ireland
