Summary

A leading biopharmaceutical company in West Cork is seeking a Capital Projects Accountant to support the delivery of its capital investment programme. The successful candidate will join the Project Controls team, working closely with Project Managers, Procurement, and Engineering teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, capital forecasting, and project accounting across a portfolio of capital projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the financial governance and successful delivery of complex capital programmes within a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile monthly capital cash flow, ensuring project expenditure is accurately reflected.
• Maintain accurate capital cash flow forecasts, incorporating committed and unpaid project costs.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between actual expenditure and forecast capital spend.
• Maintain and update rolling capital cash flow forecasts in line with project schedules and approved budget changes.
• Support year‑end capital cash flow activities and financial reporting requirements.
• Act as the primary finance contact for Project Managers on capital accounting matters.
• Work closely with Project Controls, Procurement, and Engineering teams to support effective financial management of capital projects.
• Monitor project expenditure and support accurate reporting against approved budgets.
• Assist with financial forecasting, budget updates, and capital reporting activities.
• Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to project accounting processes and financial reporting.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to support project decision‑making and governance activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• Recognised professional accountancy qualification.
• A minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in Capital Accounting, Project Accounting, or a similar finance role.
• Strong experience preparing and maintaining financial forecasts and capital expenditure reporting.
• Experience working with ERP systems, particularly SAP.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience supporting capital projects within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera would be advantageous.
• Experience using reporting and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau would be beneficial.
