Position Summary
The Calibration Lead Technician is responsible for leading the execution of onsite calibration activities, providing technical expertise, driving troubleshooting efforts, supporting quality investigations, and ensuring compliance with site calibration requirements. The role serves as the primary technical point of contact for calibration operations and works closely with maintenance, engineering, quality, and the calibration service provider teams.
Key Responsibilities
Calibration Operations
- Perform and oversee onsite calibration activities across GMP and non-GMP systems.
- Execute calibration work orders in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support ProCal transaction completion and calibration record finalization.
- Perform SAP TECO activities as required.
- Support calibration area walkdowns and instrument condition assessments.
- Assist with application of calibration status labels where required.
Quality and Compliance
- Lead first response activities for onsite calibration-related quality notifications.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Participate in annual calibration event reviews.
- Provide input and support during internal audits and inspection readiness activities.
- Review and support calibration corrective action backlog activities.
Technical Leadership
- Act as the lead technical resource for troubleshooting and fault finding.
- Provide technical expertise on calibration methodologies and equipment performance.
- Support gas detection systems management through report review and corrective action follow-up.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities within calibration processes.
Meetings and Governance
- Attend monthly scheduling meetings.
- Participate in bi-weekly offsite instrument reviews.
- Attend bi-weekly action log review meetings.
- Participate in monthly corrective action review meetings.
- Attend bi-weekly Elog review meetings as required.
- Attend monthly governance meetings.
Communication and Collaboration
- Liaise with Calibration Lead, Planner/Scheduler, Engineering, Quality, and Operations personnel.
- Provide technical support to and coordination between Calibration Technicians.
- Identify and support implementation of calibration-related improvements and compliance initiatives.
Required Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Working knowledge of calibration management systems such as ProCal and SAP.
- Understanding of GMP requirements and data integrity principles.
- Experience supporting investigations, deviations, and corrective actions.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
