Qualifications

• Experience operating machinery, preferably cable cutting or cable processing equipment.
• Stock control experience and warehouse operations.
• Valid forklift truck licence or relevant forklift operating experience.
• Ability to carry out manual handling safely.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with internal computerised systems.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate cable cutting, winding, and associated machinery safely and efficiently.
• Set up and monitor machines to ensure cables are processed accurately to the required specifications.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of machinery.

Job Specification: Cable Machine Operator / Warehouse Operative Job Purpose To support the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse and production environment through the safe operation of cable machinery, forklift trucks, stock control systems, manual handling, and customer deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate cable cutting, winding, and associated machinery safely and efficiently.
• Set up and monitor machines to ensure cables are processed accurately to the required specifications.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of machinery.
• Identify and report machine faults, defects, or maintenance requirements to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality and health and safety procedures.
• Carry out regular stocktaking and inventory checks.
• Accurately record stock movements, quantities, and discrepancies.
• Assist with the organisation and maintenance of warehouse stock.
• Ensure stock is stored safely and appropriately.
• Operate a forklift truck safely to move, load, unload, and store materials and products.
• Carry out daily pre-use safety checks on forklift equipment.
• Load and unload deliveries in line with company procedures.
• Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
• Safely handle, move, lift, and position stock and materials as required.
• Follow correct manual handling procedures and health and safety guidelines.
• Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and organising warehouse areas.
• Use internal computerised systems to maintain accurate records and paperwork.
• Process stock movements, orders, delivery information, and other operational documentation.
• Maintain accurate internal paperwork relating to maintenance, stock control, and daily operations.
• Ensure information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare customer orders for dispatch.
• Carry out deliveries to customers when required.
• Ensure deliveries are completed accurately, safely, and professionally.
• Obtain and maintain relevant delivery documentation and proof of delivery.
• Provide a professional and courteous service when representing the company.
• Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within the warehouse and production areas.
• Work effectively as part of a team and support colleagues when required.
• Carry out other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.

Skills and Experience Required

• Experience operating machinery, preferably cable cutting or cable processing equipment.
• Previous warehouse or stock control experience.
• Experience carrying out stocktakes and maintaining accurate inventory records.
• Valid forklift truck licence or relevant forklift operating experience.
• Ability to carry out manual handling duties safely.
• Basic computer skills and experience using internal computerised systems.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Full driving licence, preferably with experience carrying out customer deliveries.
