Responsibilities

• Prepare and present retail meat cuts to high standards per customer expectations.
• Ensure department operates efficiently and adheres to SOPs and store standards.
• Merchandise the department to a top visual standard with accurate planograms.
• Manage stock rotation to maintain quality and freshness.
• Monitor waste and shrink; drive sales through great service and product knowledge.
• Stay updated on new products and company initiatives.
• Share ideas to develop the department.

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Butcher to join our busy Meat Department at Pettitt’s SuperValu. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in delivering top-quality products and excellent customer service every day.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepare and present retail meat cuts to the highest standard, in line with customer expectations.
• Ensure the Meat Department operates efficiently and meets all company SOPs and store standards daily.
• Merchandise and present the department to the highest visual standard, including accurate planogram implementation.
• Manage stock rotation to maintain excellent quality and freshness.
• Monitor and control waste and shrink within the department.
• Engage positively with customers and help drive sales through great service and product knowledge.
• Stay up to date with new products and company initiatives, supporting continuous improvement.
• Share ideas and suggestions to help develop the department.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Craft butchery qualification is desirable (but not essential).
• Previous experience in a butcher or meat department is an advantage.
• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and multitask under pressure.
• A genuine passion for food and high-quality standards.
• HACCP knowledge is beneficial (training can be provided).
