Job Description
TRS are looking for a Business Development Manager to join a growing energy storage systems company based in Co. Wicklow. The BDM will be responsible for growing sales of battery energy storage and temporary power solutions across a broad range of markets. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within the temporary power, generator, plant hire, electrical equipment or related industries and a good understanding of how temporary power solutions are specified, supplied and operated. Experience or knowledge of markets such as construction, events and entertainment, utilities, infrastructure, telecoms, film and television, industrial projects, emergency power and off-grid applications would be a significant advantage. This is a commercially focused role combining new business development, account management, site visits, technical solution selling and relationship building.
Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across temporary power and energy markets.
- Build relationships with contractors, hire companies, event operators, utilities, infrastructure providers, industrial customers and other relevant organisations.
- Develop customer base throughout Ireland.
- Generate and manage a strong pipeline of prospective customers and projects.
- Arrange and attend customer meetings, site visits, demonstrations and presentations.
- Understand individual customer requirements and work with the JTM technical team to recommend the most suitable energy storage solution.
- Prepare and present commercial proposals, quotations and rental or purchase options.
- Negotiate commercial terms and progress opportunities through order.
- Maintain regular contact with prospective customers and follow up quotations and proposals.
- Meet agreed sales, revenue and business development targets.
Market Development
- Develop relationships with key decision-makers across temporary power and energy markets.
- Identify new applications and sectors where systems can replace, reduce or support conventional generator use.
- Build knowledge of customer requirements across construction and temporary site power, events, festivals and live entertainment, film and television production, utilities and infrastructure projects, telecoms and remote communications, industrial and manufacturing sites, emergency and backup power, off-grid and remote applications, renewable energy and hybrid power projects.
- Promote the benefits of energy storage, including reduced fuel use, lower emissions, reduced noise and improved generator efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to introduce the clients solutions at the planning, tender and project design stages.
- Maintain awareness of developments within the temporary power, generator hire and energy storage markets.
Account Management
- Develop long-term relationships with existing customers.
- Identify opportunities to expand the number of systems deployed across customer operations and sites.
- Maintain regular communication with customers throughout trials, rentals and permanent installations.
- Work closely with customers to review system performance and demonstrate operational and financial savings.
- Ensure a high level of customer service and support throughout the sales process.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering and technical teams when developing customer solutions.
- Provide accurate information on customer requirements, expected loads and operating conditions.
- Support the preparation of site assessments and proposed system configurations.
- Provide customer and market feedback to assist with future product development.
- Maintain accurate records of opportunities, customer interactions, quotations and sales forecasts within the company's CRM system.
Candidate Profile
- A proven track record in business development, sales or account management.
- Experience within the temporary power, generator, plant hire, electrical, energy or related sectors.
- Good knowledge of temporary power markets and customer requirements.
- Existing relationships within relevant industries would be a significant advantage.
- Experience selling generators, plant, temporary power systems, electrical equipment, energy solutions or other technical products would be particularly relevant.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- The ability to build relationships from operational and site level through to senior management.
- Confidence presenting technical and commercial solutions to customers.
- A practical understanding of temporary and off-grid power applications would be beneficial.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to manage their own sales pipeline and work independently.
- Good organizational and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable working in a growing business where the role will develop as the company expands.
- Full driving license.
Experience
Ideally, candidates will have 5+ years' experience in a sales, account management or business development position. Experience within one or more of the following sectors would be particularly attractive:

- Generator hire

- Electrical equipment
- Industrial equipment

- Renewable energy
Direct battery energy storage experience is not essential. Technical and product training will be provided.
