Travel: Regular travel to Musgrave and project sites across Ireland is required for workshops, meetings, training and project activities

Join Musgrave: Where Innovation Meets Heritage, and People Drive Change

Musgrave is one of Europe’s most successful family-owned businesses, with a rich 150-year legacy in food and brand innovation. We`re proud to serve communities across Ireland and Spain, feeding one in three people every day through iconic brands like SuperValu, Centra, Mace, Frank and Honest, and Musgrave MarketPlace. By supporting thousands of retail and foodservice family businesses, we make a positive impact on the communities they serve. We`re committed to becoming the most trusted and sustainable business in Ireland, and we`re looking for dynamic, forward-thinking individuals to join us on this journey.

As we continue our journey toward becoming Ireland’s most trusted and sustainable business, we have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our team as a Business Analyst (Automation & AI).

This is a hands-on, stakeholder-facing Business Analyst role within Musgrave’s AI & Automation function. The role will focus primarily on automation initiatives, with opportunities to support selected AI use cases as the portfolio develops. The successful candidate will combine robust business analysis practices with practical technical knowledge of automation tools and technologies.

You will work within cross-functional delivery teams to identify and assess opportunities, lead in-person discovery and requirements sessions, document processes and requirements to a high standard, and support delivery from initial analysis through implementation, adoption and benefits tracking. You will also deliver business-facing Automation and AI training sessions and contribute confidently to innovation activities, including hackathons.

Please note that this is a 12 month contract

What you’ll be Doing

Requirements Elicitation and Business Analysis

Lead structured requirements elicitation through in-person workshops, stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs, observation and document analysis.

Engage confidently with non-technical colleagues, ask effective questions and draw out underlying business, process, data and technical needs.

Document functional and non-functional requirements clearly and unambiguously using agreed Musgrave templates and standards.

Produce and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Process Definition Documents (PDDs), Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), user stories, acceptance criteria and related analysis artefacts.

Define scope, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, business rules, exception paths and measurable success criteria.

Maintain clear traceability from business need and requirement through design, delivery, testing and business acceptance

2. Process Discovery, Modelling and Automation Assessment

Lead process discovery sessions with business stakeholders to understand current ways of working and identify suitable automation opportunities.

Develop and maintain clear As-Is and To-Be process models using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) and agreed process-modelling standards.

Assess process suitability, complexity, volumes, variations, exceptions, controls, data requirements, system interactions and operational risks.

Identify practical process improvements and opportunities to simplify or standardise processes before automation.

Work with technical colleagues to evaluate potential approaches using robotic process automation, workflow automation, intelligent document processing and related technologies.

3. Stakeholder Facilitation, Presentation and Training

Plan and lead engaging in-person workshops, discovery sessions, working groups and playback sessions with operational, business and technical stakeholders.

Present findings, process models, requirements, options and recommendations clearly to audiences with differing levels of technical knowledge.

Facilitate constructive discussion, challenge assumptions respectfully, resolve ambiguity and build agreement on scope, requirements and next steps.

Deliver in-person Automation and AI awareness, training and knowledge-sharing sessions for business colleagues.

Create clear, practical and accessible presentation and training materials that translate technical concepts into business language.

Facilitate solution demonstrations, feedback sessions and business-readiness activities throughout delivery.

4. Agile Delivery and Requirements Management

Translate business needs and requirements into a structured hierarchy of epics, features and user stories, with clear acceptance criteria and an appropriate level of detail for delivery.

Decompose larger requirements into manageable backlog items while preserving alignment to the agreed business objective, scope and expected value.

Create, refine and maintain backlog items using Azure DevOps, Jira or similar Agile delivery tools.

Work with business stakeholders, the Project Manager, developers, architects, process owners and testers to clarify priorities, assumptions, dependencies and sequencing.

Support backlog refinement and sprint planning by ensuring proposed items are sufficiently analysed, understood and ready for delivery.

Maintain end-to-end traceability from business need through requirements, epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, testing, business acceptance and delivered outcomes.

Work with the relevant business owner and delivery team to validate priorities and acceptance decisions; the role supports informed prioritisation but does not own product strategy or technical design.

Support test planning, User Acceptance Testing, defect clarification and confirmation that delivered solutions meet agreed business requirements.

Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, retrospectives and other Agile delivery ceremonies.

Act as the primary contact for requirements clarification throughout design, build, testing and implementation, supporting timely decisions where ambiguity arises.

5. Technical Collaboration and Innovation

Apply practical knowledge of automation platforms and technologies when shaping requirements and assessing delivery options.

Collaborate effectively with developers and solution architects, contributing constructively to design discussions without replacing technical design ownership.

Participate confidently in Musgrave innovation activities and hackathons, helping teams understand business problems, shape use cases, define requirements and develop or demonstrate practical concepts.

Support the assessment of selected AI-enabled opportunities where relevant, while maintaining automation as the initial primary focus of the role.

Keep informed of developments in automation and AI technologies and translate relevant capabilities into practical business opportunities.

6. Governance, Adoption and Benefits

Contribute the business analysis information required for project briefs, risk assessments, privacy assessments and other agreed governance artefacts.

Ensure requirements address appropriate security, privacy, control, ethical and operational considerations.

Work with business owners to define measurable outcomes and support benefit-tracking arrangements.

Support implementation, business readiness, adoption and transition into operational support.

Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve Business Analysis and automation delivery practices.

What we’re looking for

Exceptional in-person facilitation, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to lead a room and engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrable expertise in structured requirements elicitation, analysis, documentation and traceability across the delivery lifecycle.

Strong process-analysis and modelling capability, including practical use of Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN).

Practical technical knowledge of automation tools and technologies, with the ability to contribute credibly to delivery discussions and innovation activities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical topics clearly.

A detailed, analytical and collaborative approach, balanced with the confidence to challenge assumptions and resolve ambiguity.

Comfort working in a hybrid role that requires regular attendance at the Cork office and travel to sites across Ireland.

Experience and Requirements

Five or more years’ relevant Business Analysis experience within technology, automation, digital transformation or process-improvement initiatives.

Proven experience producing high-quality Business Requirements Documents, Process Definition Documents and Requirements Traceability Matrices.

Proven experience eliciting requirements and facilitating in-person workshops with business, operational and technical stakeholders.

Experience developing As-Is and To-Be process models using Business Process Model and Notation.

Experience working with automation platforms such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Microsoft Power Platform or equivalent technologies.

Experience using Azure DevOps, Jira or similar tools for backlog management, user stories, acceptance criteria, traceability and delivery collaboration.

Demonstrable experience decomposing business requirements into epics, features and user stories and maintaining traceability across the delivery lifecycle.

Experience working within Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

Experience presenting to stakeholder groups and delivering structured training, awareness or knowledge-sharing sessions.

Due to the requirement for regular travel to Musgrave and project sites across Ireland, a full driving licence and access to suitable transport for business travel are required.

A recognised Business Analysis qualification or certification.

Experience with workflow automation, intelligent document processing, optical character recognition, process mining or AI-enabled solutions.

Experience supporting innovation workshops, hackathons, prototypes or proofs of concept.

Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Management or Continuous Improvement experience.

Experience supporting automation testing, business acceptance, implementation and benefits tracking.
