Job summary

Tuath Housing Association is seeking a Building Services Engineer to oversee building services, ensuring responsive, quality, and efficient service for residents. The role requires agile working with access to the Dublin office and a valid driving licence for business use.

Reporting to the Property Services Manager, you will lead M&E diagnostics, manage maintenance programmes, and collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to maintain compliance and service quality.

Qualifications

  • 3rd level qualification (Level 6 NFQ or above) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Alternatively Plumbing/Electrical trade with 5 years minimum post-qualification experience.
  • Full clean Driving Licence.
  • Solid understanding of Building Services, M&E and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance on heating, plumbing, electrical, drainage and other M&E services.
  • Diagnose faults and recommend repairs on M&E systems.
  • Manage M&E works programmes and costs.
  • Undertake pre- and post-inspections and produce reports for repairs and maintenance.
  • Manage service contracts for M&E repairs and upgrades.
  • Use Building Asset Database to assist planned and cyclical maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on property, compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Liaise with OMCs, Local Authorities, residents and stakeholders.

Building Services Engineer

Location: Dublin
Contract: Full time/ Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week
Reporting to: Property Services Manager

Job Summary

The Building Services Engineer will oversee all aspects of building services to provide a responsive, quality and efficient service to residents. The role involves agile working with access to the Dublin office. A valid driving licence and the use of a car for business purposes are required.

Core Duties
Mechanical & Electrical
  • Provide technical guidance and specification on heating systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, drainage systems and other M&E services as required.
  • Assist with diagnosing faults and recommend suitable repairs on M&E systems.
  • Manage M&E works programmes and costs.
Management of Planned, Cyclical and Reactive Servicing & Maintenance
  • Undertake pre & post inspections of repair, service and maintenance work and produce detailed and accurate reports.
  • Manage service contracts of M&E repairs and upgrades.
  • Assist with the management of planned and cyclical maintenance programmes using a Building Asset Database.
General
  • Collaborate with internal teams on property, compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Liaise with OMCs, Local Authorities, Residents and other stakeholders.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and Experience
  • 3rd level qualification (Level 6 NFQ or above) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field; OR Plumbing/Electrical trade with 5 years minimum post qualification experience.
  • Full clean Driving License.
Essential Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.
  • Experience in diagnosing and managing repairs to domestic buildings.
  • Familiar with Technical Guidance Documents, building compliance and Irish Standards.
  • Sound knowledge of contract management and working to procurement regulations.
