Job summary

Jones Engineering is seeking a Building Services Design Manager based in Leixlip, Co. Kildare to lead technically driven MEP design for high-value construction projects.

The role spans from pre-construction through handover, coordinating with pre-construction and construction teams to ensure compliant, on-time delivery. You will drive design development, manage workload, chair design reviews, support BIM workflows and contribute to project costings and reporting.

Qualifications

• Honours Degree in Building services or related Mechanical/Electrical discipline.
• Experience with Data Centre projects is advantageous.
• 3+ years of hands-on mechanical and electrical (M&E) project design experience with either a main contractor or subcontractor.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative ability.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office systems and other IT-based project management software.
• Demonstrated appetite for continuous learning and personal development.

Responsibilities

• Dealing with all design aspects from pre-construction through to completion, including post-completion validation.
• Review and understand project documents to support design reviews.
• Develop the Design Deliverable Schedule with Client, Project Manager, Design Team and Consultants.
• Develop and manage the Design Development Process with value engineering and constructability.
• Control the design process from start to finish from RIBA Stage 3 to Stage 5.
• Manage workload distribution within the preconstruction and design teams.
• Chair weekly meetings with stakeholders to address technical issues and align with deliverables.
• Liaise with project team on project costings and design works.
• Assist Project Manager to incorporate internal and external design scope and cost issues in the schedule and reports.
• Coordinate with BIM team to ensure workflows and delivery.
• Support site QA/QC and handover protocols.

Job Description

Building Services Design Manager with a strong technical background to play a key role in delivering high-value construction and engineering projects based out of Leixlip Co. Kildare. This is a technically driven role involving technical design, coordination, compliance adherence and value engineering of MEP scope from the pre-construction phase through to handover and commissioning. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to high profile client projects, working closely with both pre-construction and construction teams to ensure accurate and compliant projects are delivered on time and to specification.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Dealing with all design aspects of the project from preconstruction works through to completion, including supporting stakeholder in post-completion validation.
• Review and understand project documents to support with design reviews.
• Assist in the development of the Design Deliverable Schedule with the Client, Project Manager, Design Team and Consultants.
• Develop and manage the Design Development Process ensuring value engineering and constructability consideration.
• Control the design process from start to finish, with demonstrable experience of developing and delivering from RIBA Stage 3 to Stage 5.
• Manage the distribution and production of workload within the preconstruction project team and design team.
• Chair weekly meetings with the various stakeholders to ensure all technical issues are addressed and aligned with project deliverables.
• Liaise with the project team in the preparation of project costings and design works.
• Assist the Project Manager to incorporate both internal and external design scope and cost issues within the project schedule and design related reports.
• Laise with and support internal BIM team to ensure clear workflows and successful delivery.
• Support Project site teams QA/QC on site and project handover protocols.

This role will provide exposure to a wide range of expertise relating to intricate mechanical construction projects. The successful candidate will be supported in developing their knowledge and skills as their responsibilities grow and evolve.
