Job description

About Us

Lighthouse Drinks is an award-winning support business to the Irish Whiskey industry. We operate wholesale, retail, production/bottling, and fulfilment departments under one roof, offering Ireland's greatest range of services to aspiring whiskey businesses.

We're an ambitious Cork-based SME with a detailed short-term growth plan, offering real opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career with us.

The Role

We're looking for an accountant to own the day-to-day finance function and grow into a broader commercial finance role as the business scales. Reporting to the Managing and Operations Directors, you'll run the core transactional cycle, keep the books accurate and reconciled, and produce the management reporting that supports business decisions.

This is a hands-on role. You'll be beyond pure bookkeeping, taking responsibility for month-end reporting, cash flow visibility, and statutory compliance, while working closely with the leadership team on site.

Hands-on Xero experience is preferred but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records in Xero

  • Prepare a monthly management package including P&L, balance sheet, and supporting reports

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable across supplier and customer accounts

  • Reconcile all bank, card, and payment accounts monthly

  • Manage payroll and ensure statutory compliance (PAYE/PRSI, VAT, Revenue returns)

  • Monitor cash flow and support management of banking relationships

  • Support the identification of financial and operational risks, reporting to senior management

  • Ensure the company meets its financial deadlines and statutory obligations

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven accounting or senior bookkeeping experience in a busy commercial environment

  • Demonstrable, hands-on Xero proficiency (essential); familiarity with QuickBooks or similar is a plus

  • Strong understanding of Irish VAT, PAYE/PRSI, and Revenue requirements

  • Proficient in MS Office, including advanced Excel

  • Exceptional attention to detail, organisational, and communication skills, with fluent spoken and written English

  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-moving, multi-channel environment

  • Experience with ecommerce or multi-currency reconciliation is a distinct advantage

  • Bachelor's degree required; part-qualified or working towards a professional accounting qualification is an advantage, not a requirement
