Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working directly with industrial plant utilities in heavily regulated environments (cGMP).
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements and working in regulated manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities on live sites.

  • Drive utility start-up readiness and performance verification.
  • Operate and maintain major utility equipment, ensuring quality, safety and environmental compliance.
  • Diagnose and resolve system failures and handle deviations with minimal disruption.
  • Monitor plant data and trends to lower carbon footprints and improve energy efficiency.
  • Support development of engineering skillsets and deliver training to maintenance staff.
  • Knowledge of BMS and CMMS would be advantageous.

Job description

  • As Utilities Engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation, compliance, lifecycle management and continuous improvement of Black utility systems within a cGMP environment.
Main Job Tasks
  • Monitor, review and update existing system processes and performance to improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards or vulnerabilities in utility systems and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring they meet operational requirements and industry standards.
  • Lead CQV strategy and execution for black utilities (chilled water, LPHW, steam, compressed air), responsible for development of the maintenance strategy and for setting the handover requirements for black utility systems.
  • Maintain technical documentation packs for black utility systems ensuring high standards.
  • Drive utility start-up readiness and performance verification.
  • Operate and maintain major utility equipment (e.g., cooling towers, steam systems, electrical distribution, fire protection, water and waste management systems, dust extraction, etc), ensuring compliance with quality, safety and environmental expectations.
  • Diagnose and resolve system failures and handle deviations (unexpected events) with support from the maintenance team, with minimal disruption to site operations.
  • Monitor plant data and trends to lower carbon footprints, improve energy efficiency and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Support the development of skillsets within the engineering team, developing training programs and delivering training to maintenance craft and other relevant personnel.
  • Knowledge of BMS (Building Management Systems) and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) would be advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Education:
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
Experience:
  • Typically, 5+ years of working directly with industrial plant utilities in heavily regulated (like cGMP) environments.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities on live sites.
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements and working in regulated manufacturing facilities.
Personal Skills:
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to interface effectively with contractors, vendors, and project teams.
  • Team Player working within a high quality and organised structure.
